President's Message Week 17

Unfortunately, our public health unit in collaboration with the Ministry of Education has extended the closure of schools for most students in Upper Grand until at least February 1st. Both the Ministry and public health continue to direct the school board to maintain in-person learning for students in DD classrooms. OSSTF continues to address the government on behalf of all members to keep all learning remote until enhanced benchmarks are announced and met. The government continues to ignore OSSTF's requests. OSSTF is also seeking more information regarding pandemic pay for members attending in-person learning at the request of local leaders. I want to thank all of you for your patience and feedback during this challenging, time and we appreciate that our communication doesn't resolve your fears and frustration. Please know I continue to bring forward your concerns, suggestions, and feedback to the board and our colleagues at Provincial Office daily. I encourage you to give me a call at any time to talk about the current situation or anything other areas of concern. In solidarity, Cheryl PD Day January 29th, 2021 More information for everyone will coming out shortly from HR regarding next Friday's PD day.
