Union Funds for Personal Professional Development

Did you know that that you could use union money for professional development?

We have $ 8000.00 available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Each individual member is limited to $700.00 per year. The $700.00 allotment covers the cost of the PD, and supply coverage if applicable. Any cost above $700.00 will be the responsibility of the member. Funds are issued once the PD is complete, and certificate of completion and receipts are received.

To be considered for funding, applications must be faxed 519-843-6260 (attention Cindy Scholten) or emailed to and be received three weeks (3) PRIOR to the commencement of the event. Please email Cindy Scholten to notify her that you have faxed in your application.

The application can be found on our website, please follow the directions carefully!

OSSTF Health and Safety Checklist for COVID-19 Issues for Members

The following COVID - 19 health and safety checklist is aimed at Your health and safety in the workplace. This OSSTF created checklist is a province-wide initiative to assess COVID - 19 health and safety control measures in all school boards.

All information gathered is confidential. The results will help Your D18 ESSP/ECE Executive to determine how to best advocate and support your health and safety concerns during this unprecedented global pandemic. The results will provide important health and safety information to ensure that the required infection controls, policies, and procedures are in place to promote a safe workplace.

But we need your help! We need to know the COVID - 19 health and safety issues that exist in your school. As strong and proactive OSSTF members we want to support one another for the greater good. A safe workplace is demanded not only for You and Your Family but also for your students. We all deserve to go home safe!

The Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) ensures all workers have three (3) Rights: The Right to Know, The Right to Participate, and The Right to Refuse Unsafe Work.

It is Your Right to have a safe workplace!

Please complete the checklist and return it to Julie Wagner. You will need to save your completed copy before sending it back to Julie as an attachment. The more response we get the better we can support all members.
