COVID-19 symptoms and testing Early next week you will receive a clearer direction from the board related to COVID-19 and being Symptomatic and the inability to attend work due to COVID-19 symptoms. In the meantime, if you have been off related to COVID symptoms, and are waiting for results or have in the past please reach out to the board at firstname.lastname@example.org and advise them of recommendations and/or provide the date of testing. The will provide you further direction on the next steps. Use the code for personal illness when inputting your absence. Do not attend work if you have symptoms contact an assessment centre or health care provider. This is not an ideal situation and will not be easy for many of you. I want to assure you that we are working with the board to ensure the collective agreement is being followed and that the assignments whether permanent or temporary meet those collective agreement obligations. EA reorganization will begin next week. We are not looking at layoffs, however, there will be movement, we encourage you to review the layoff and recall language in the collective agreement that will be followed for this process. Part of these efforts include a new Safety for All campaign that includes new social media graphics/branding, resources to promote A safe return for all: OSSTF/FEESO's framework for reopening schools in 2020–2021, and a new Safety for All section on the provincial website. The page is designed to offer a combination of advocacy tools, resources, community outreach, and other items aimed at fostering greater support from members, parents, and other allies in our quest for improved learning and working conditions during the pandemic and beyond. This page will evolve as the issues and challenges related to the pandemic continue to unfold. New Member Engagement Advisory Work Group - Call for Members The New Member Engagement Advisory Work Group is a permanent advisory body that advises the Provincial Executive on any matters related to new member engagement, such as resources, workshops, outreach, and information and any other matters referred to it by the Provincial Executive. The Provincial Executive is seeking up to eight (8) Members-at-Large, who have been members of OSSTF/FEESO for (8) years or less, to serve on this workgroup for a two-year term. In the past, this workgroup has created relevant content for the provincial website, provided input on social media communications prepared and presented a workshop for local leaders and planned the last New Member Engagement Conference. Interested applicants should submit the attached application form indicating their suitability. The workgroup expects to meet approximately four times per year. While time release, as well as travel costs, for all meetings are paid for by the Provincial Office, applicants should verify with their local president that there are no restrictions for time release for their Bargaining Unit. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all meetings will take place in a virtual setting until further notice.
